Fix Yandex Disk Authentication Errors — NetDrive
NetDrive suddenly can't sign in to Yandex Disk? Walk through the common causes — a revoked app grant, an expired session, and stale saved credentials — and how to reconnect.
A Yandex Disk drive that’s mounted fine for months suddenly starts throwing an authentication error the next time NetDrive tries to refresh the connection — no config changed, nobody touched the password, and the drive still shows up in Drive Manager but won’t reconnect. It’s a specific kind of annoying because nothing on the NetDrive side looks broken. Almost always the cause sits on the Yandex account side: a revoked app authorization, an expired session, or saved credentials that no longer match what Yandex expects.

Mount Yandex Disk as a drive letter or volume
NetDrive lets Google Drive, OneDrive, S3, SFTP, WebDAV and more appear as native drives on Windows and macOS — no syncing, no full downloads.
- Works with personal Yandex Disk accounts
- Files stream on demand — no full local sync required
- Drive Manager shows connection status for every mounted provider

Why This Is an Account-Side Problem, Not a NetDrive Bug
NetDrive stores what it needs to reconnect to Yandex Disk without prompting for a password every time, but that stored authorization is only valid as long as Yandex still recognizes it. Yandex can invalidate it from its side for reasons that have nothing to do with NetDrive: the account owner reviewed connected apps and revoked access, a password change forced every existing session to re-authenticate, or the authorization simply expired after a long period of inactivity. When that happens, NetDrive’s next attempt to use the stored credentials gets rejected, and the drive shows an authentication error even though the mount point itself is configured correctly.

Check 1: Confirm the Yandex Account Still Has NetDrive Authorized
Before touching anything in NetDrive, check whether Yandex still lists the connection as active:
- Sign in to the Yandex account directly in a browser.
- Open the account’s connected apps / third-party access settings.
- Look for the entry tied to NetDrive’s access to Yandex Disk.
If it’s missing, that confirms the access was revoked — either deliberately during a security review, or automatically after a long idle period. Re-authorizing from NetDrive’s side (below) is the fix either way.
Check 2: Recent Password Change or Security Event
A Yandex account password change, a forced logout from a suspicious-login flag, or two-step verification getting enabled after the drive was first connected can all invalidate an existing authorization without any explicit “revoke” action on the account owner’s part. If any of those happened recently, treat it as the likely cause and move straight to reconnecting rather than troubleshooting NetDrive’s settings further.

Reconnecting the Drive in NetDrive
Reconnecting replaces the stale stored credentials with a fresh authorization — it doesn’t touch the mount point path or any other drive settings:
- Open NetDrive → find the Yandex Disk drive in the Drive Manager.
- Click the drive’s settings (gear icon) and choose to re-authenticate or reconnect.
- Sign in to the Yandex account again when prompted. If two-step verification is enabled, complete that step as well.
- Once sign-in succeeds, click Test to confirm NetDrive can reach Yandex Disk before mounting.
- Re-mount the drive from Drive Manager.
If reconnecting from the existing drive entry doesn’t clear the error, remove the drive from Drive Manager entirely and add it again from scratch — this forces NetDrive to request a completely new authorization instead of trying to refresh a broken one.
When It’s Not the Authorization at All
If sign-in succeeds and Test passes but the drive still won’t mount afterward, the problem has moved past authentication — check for a mount point already in use, or a stale listing that clears with a manual refresh rather than a full reconnect.
Wrap-up
A Yandex Disk authentication error in NetDrive almost always traces back to something that changed on the Yandex account, not a NetDrive configuration problem — a revoked authorization, a password change, or a newly enabled two-step verification. Reconnecting the drive through Drive Manager re-establishes access without disturbing the mount point or any other settings.
