Fix OpenDrive Authentication Errors — NetDrive
Troubleshoot OpenDrive sign-in failures in NetDrive: stale saved passwords after a change, copy-paste whitespace, and account problems on OpenDrive's side.
An OpenDrive drive that has mounted every morning for weeks suddenly shows an authentication error, or a brand-new connection rejects a password that works fine on OpenDrive’s website. In almost every case the cause is a mismatch between the credentials OpenDrive currently expects and the copy NetDrive has saved, not a broken install. This guide walks through the checks in the order that resolves most cases fastest.

Keep OpenDrive reachable as a drive
NetDrive lets Google Drive, OneDrive, S3, SFTP, WebDAV and more appear as native drives on Windows and macOS — no syncing, no full downloads.
- Browse OpenDrive files in Explorer or Finder, no browser tab
- Edit saved credentials in one place when a password changes
- Run OpenDrive next to your other clouds in one drive manager

Match the Symptom to the Likely Cause
| Symptom | Most likely cause |
|---|---|
| A drive that worked yesterday now fails to connect | The OpenDrive password was changed elsewhere and NetDrive still holds the old one |
| A fresh connection fails on the first try | A typo, or an invisible space or line break picked up while copying the password |
| Credentials are correct but sign-in still fails | The OpenDrive account itself is suspended, locked, or temporarily unreachable |
Work through the fixes below in that order. Each one takes under a minute, and checking them in sequence avoids retyping a password that was never the problem.
Fix 1: Re-Enter the Password After a Change
NetDrive stores the credentials you entered when you added the drive. Changing the OpenDrive password on the website, on another computer, or through a reset email does not update that stored copy, so the old password keeps being sent and keeps failing.
- Open NetDrive → go to the Drive Manager.
- Select the OpenDrive drive and click Edit.
- Clear the saved password field and type the current OpenDrive password.
- Click Connect (or Mount) to authenticate again.

If you manage the account through a password manager, confirm it saved the new password and not the previous one. A manager that autofills an outdated entry is a common reason the same wrong password gets submitted repeatedly.
Fix 2: Rule Out Copy-Paste Artifacts
Passwords pasted from a password manager, a notes app, or an email can carry a trailing space or a line break that the field does not show. The website’s login form sometimes trims that for you; a desktop client may not. To test it:
- Paste the password into a plain text editor and look for extra characters at either end.
- Delete anything that is not part of the password.
- Type the password directly into the NetDrive field instead of pasting, then connect again.
Check the username field too. A stray space after an email address fails exactly like a wrong password and gives no hint about which field is at fault.

Fix 3: Confirm the Account Works Outside NetDrive
If the password is current and clean, sign in to OpenDrive’s website from a browser on the same network. This tells you whether the problem sits inside NetDrive or upstream:
- The website login also fails. The account is the problem, not NetDrive. Reset the password through OpenDrive, check for a lock or suspension notice, then update the saved password in NetDrive as in Fix 1.
- The website login works. Restart NetDrive, then edit the drive and reconnect. If a corporate proxy or firewall sits between you and the internet, test from another network to see whether the connection is being filtered.
The authentication message inside NetDrive is generic. A suspended account and a wrong password look the same from the connection dialog, which is why the browser test is worth the extra step.

Prevent a Repeat
A few habits keep this from coming back:
- Update NetDrive the same day you change the password. Make editing the drive part of the password-change routine.
- Use a single source of truth. Keep the current password in one password manager entry so an old copy is never autofilled.
- Set Auto Mount deliberately. If the drive mounts on login or on boot, a stale password will fail at startup, so you notice the problem sooner rather than halfway through a job.
Wrap-up
Most OpenDrive authentication errors in NetDrive come down to a saved password that has gone stale or a hidden character in a pasted one. When neither applies, the browser test tells you whether the account is the issue. For first-time setup, see Mount OpenDrive on Windows with NetDrive or Mount OpenDrive on macOS with NetDrive. The same stale-credential pattern appears with Koofr authentication errors.
